Tradition, Teamwork, and Excellence on the Diamond

Welcome to the home of Burlington Grayhounds Baseball! Our program is dedicated to developing skilled players, fostering a love for America’s pastime, and building character both on and off the field.

From our freshman team to our high school varsity team, the Burlington baseball program offers opportunities for players at all levels to learn, grow, and compete. Our dedicated coaching staff emphasizes fundamental skills, strategic thinking, and the importance of teamwork, preparing our athletes not just for success in baseball, but for life beyond the diamond.

Practices and Game information

Practices are held at 5 p.m. throughout the summer on non-game days at the baseball field behind Burlington High School. Games take place at either BHS or Community Field.

Meet the Coach

Baseball players surround their coach during a game.

Griffin Dean played college baseball until an injury set him on a different path.

Coach Dean went on to work as a student assistant for three years at Graceland University before moving on to Ellsworth Community College as the assistant baseball coach. He also coached a full summer of the PCBL, a college prospect league, and is in his seventh year of coaching at BHS.

For Coach Dean, baseball is about far more than winning and losing.

“Relationships are the biggest part of high school sports,” he said. “I want to take a deep dive into the lives of these kids if they allow me to do so. Struggling in school? I can assist where needed. Struggling in life? I want to be a sounding board. Things are bigger than sports, and I want to help these kids grow into the young men they have the potential to be, regardless of wins and losses.”
