🚨 BIG NEWS! 🚨
The BHS Jazz Band will be taking the stage this Wednesday at 7 PM at the Capitol Theater, performing alongside some incredible jazz musicians straight from New York City! 🎷🎶 This show features the amazing Svetlana Shmulyian on vocals, along with a lineup of exceptionally talented musicians—including a Grammy-winning pianist! 😲 Best of all? This concert is FREE! Burlington is beyond lucky to host artists of this caliber, so don’t miss out!
🎺 Festival of Bands—Mark Your Calendars!
The Concert Band is in the final stretch of preparation for our Festival of Bands concert next Thursday at 7 PM at the Memorial Auditorium. This FREE event will showcase the hard work and talent of Burlington Community School District bands from grades 5-12. It’s going to be an incredible night of music, so come out and support our young musicians!

Encourage your student to give back and earn Silver Cord hours! Opportunities are posted on my office window, including:

- ALIS Band Solo Festival (April 10th)

Exciting News! 🎶🎺
Jazz musicians from New York City are coming to Burlington from March 3-5! The BHS Jazz Band will take the stage with them on Wednesday, March 5, at 7 PM at the Capitol Theater.
Leading up to the concert, students will have the opportunity to work with these talented musicians in rehearsals and workshops. This is a fantastic experience for our students, and we hope to see you at the concert!

Wow, sorry for the lack of updates—I guess this should’ve been my New Year’s resolution! Things have been busy in the band department lately.
First off, HUGE congratulations to the following students on their amazing achievements:

🎷 State Jazz Band is at Davenport Central HS next Saturday (Feb. 1)! Jazz Band members, plan to be at BHS by 6:45 AM to load the bus. The band performs at 9:40 AM—don’t miss it!
🎟️ Admission is $12 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $5 for students.

🎷 Rehearsals Resume
We’ll have jazz band rehearsal when we return to school on Monday. Make sure to bring your A-game!
🎼 Chair Auditions Begin
Chair auditions will kick off as soon as we’re back. Hopefully, you’ve found some time to practice and polish your etudes over the break.
🐔 Performance Alert: Chick-Fil-A
On Wednesday, January 15th, we’ll be performing at Chik-Fil-A at 10:00 AM! We’ll perform a few of our halftime selections and perform the National Anthem. Bonus: there’s food involved! 🎶🍴
