Students may raise funds for school-sponsored events with the recommendation of the principal and approval of the superintendent. Established district procedures must be followed for student fund raising activities. Fund raising by students for events other than school-sponsored events is not allowed. All such funds shall be under the financial control of the board.

Accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of all student activity funds shall be maintained according to a system approved by the Iowa State Board of Education. These accounts shall be audited at the same time as the annual audit of school funds.

Bonafide school clubs with adult sponsors may conduct bingo games, raffles, games of skill, and games of chance, as defined by Iowa law, but only after completing the following procedure: Application shall be made to the respective building principal, and if recommended for approval, the request shall be forwarded to the superintendent of schools for final disposition.

If the request has been approved, clubs shall maintain clear and accurate records of all financial transactions for the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals Gambling Reports and for Iowa sales tax allowances.
