Physical activity means any movement, manipulation, or exertion of the body that can lead to improved levels of physical fitness and quality of life.

Physically able students in grades K-5 will engage in physical activity for a minimum of 30 minutes each school day. This may include physical education class, recess, organized walks, or other similar activities. Physically able students in grades 6-12 will engage in physical activity for a minimum of 120 minutes per week. This requirement may be met by participation in the following activities including, but not limited to :

(2) School-Sponsored marching band, show choir, dance, drill, cheer, or similar activities

(3) Non-school gymnastics

(4) Similar endeavors that involve movement, manipulation, or exertion of the body.

When activities such as mandatory school-wide testing, make it necessary for students to remain indoors for long periods of time, students should be given periodic breaks during which they are encouraged to stand and be moderately active.

Employees should not use physical activity (running laps or doing pushups) or withhold opportunities for physical activity as punishment.
