The Board recognizes that properly planned, well-conducted and carefully supervised field trips may be of value to the curriculum and learning experiences of students.

Advance consent of the student’s parent or guardian is required for any field trip involving the use of public or private transportation. This requirement may be waived for secondary students for trips in the community.

Field trips shall have the prior approval of the building principal. In addition to prior approval of the building principal:

1) Field trips in excess of 100 miles must have prior approval of the superintendent.

2) Field trips outside the State of Iowa in excess of 100 miles must have prior approval of the superintendent and the Board.

Excursions outside the United States must have the recommendation of the administration and the approval of the Board.
